It was designed and originally built in a back yard garage in Burbank California by a friend of my cousin who lived around the corner (they went to school together all the way through and were surfing buddies). Especially since the Deserter body had previously been known as the Bounty Hunter buggy. It's kinda amusing to me that all the fuss in that article about Deserter fiberglass dune buggy bodies from Massachusetts, and 3 of them having been shipped to Ted Trevor at Crown MFG in LA, California.
